The pando delayed Helen’s milestone birthday trip to NL by a year, but here we are, enjoying a two week adventure in Newfoundland and Labrador! It’s Helen’s first visit to The Rock, my third. We are scheduled to visit St. John's, Gander, Twillingate and Rocky Harbour (Gros Morne).
We began on July 15, 2022 by strolling along the main St. John’s tourist streets, Duckworth and Water, then headed up Long's Hill toward the legendary Ches’s Fish n Chips shop for lunch!
Later, we did a three hour walking tour and learned a bunch o' stuff that (only) Helen will remember. We started at a sculpture on George Street that honours NL’s art scene, and which features the late Ron Hynes among others. I knew Ron a smidge a decade ago, glad to see the tribute.
Still later, we went to Quidi Vidi, Terry Fox's departure point for his Marathon of Hope in 1980, The Rooms museum, and a few other spots around St. John's.
We're going to become quite familiar with those roads!
